Hydrangea
This has to be the "year of the hydrangea" in my garden. The blooms on the Annabelles are enormous. This particular hydrangea hedge grows along the east-facing side of the garage. It seems to be the ideal location for them...every year is better than the last. I changed up things a… Continue reading Hydrangea
Dahlias…
There are always a few disappointments in the garden every season. This year it was the Dahlias. Last year was the first year I planted dahlias in containers, and I was over the moon by their performance. Cafe au Lait is my favourite variety along with another large dinner plate dahlia called Fleurel. I just assumed that the… Continue reading Dahlias…
Peonies…
In the spring of 2019, I decided to take out the raspberry bushes in my side garden and plant peonies in that spot. On the opposite side of the walkway was a row of already well-established peonies...this small garden is now called the "Jardin de Pivoine". The peonies this summer were abundant… Continue reading Peonies…
Chloe in the garden…

It takes a village…
The photo above was taken by a man from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan while out on a nature walk. His camera lens captured this Mother Goose watching over "47" goslings. Knowing that these could not possibly all belong to her, he assumed that she was taking care of the all the goslings while her gaggle of geese… Continue reading It takes a village…
Leaving the nest…
As most regions begin the process of reopening businesses and public places after the pandemic lockdown, is it time for individuals to step through their front doors back into the real world? During the past three months, we've all had more than enough time at home to contemplate what our own futures would look like.… Continue reading Leaving the nest…
Lilacs…
The name "lilac" (Syringa Vulgaris) comes from the Persian word meaning bluish. Purple lilacs considered the symbol of first love, are called the queen of shrubs. The photo (left) is part of a series taken by Carla Coulson, a professional photographer who has done a series of similar photos of young women carrying massive bundles… Continue reading Lilacs…
