Puppy love…

*** To those of you who have already received a version of this post, my apologies!  After receiving some comments on the post, I realized I must have pressed the “Publish” button instead of the “Preview”.  This is the second time I’ve done this in recent months…I’m either losing it, or I need to get out more!!!

I planned to publish this as a Valentine post…instead, it will be going out on Ground Hog Day!

Charlie, our little Labradoodle, will be nine months old in a few days.  She came into our lives not long after losing our sweet, sweet Chloe.  At the time, I wasn’t a hundred per cent sure I was ready to love another dog as much, but no fear of that.  Charlie has found a spot in my heart that I didn’t even know was there.

I had either forgotten what having a puppy would be like, or more likely, I was much younger when we had our other puppies!!!  Charlie has a very lively, mischievous personality, meaning that we have to be alert at all times because she is bound to be up to no good if left to her own devices!

Charlie is the only dog we’ve had who has played, played, and played with her toys.  She dragged around her flat fox for months, loved the baby blanket that she came home with, and although she has chewed the ears and tail off her little doggy, which has been patched up numerous times, it is her favourite.

Before and after her first visit to the groomers…

This quote will ring so true, especially for those of you who have a dog.  They add so much life, love and energy to our homes you can’t imagine living without them.  I suspect that is why once you have a dog, you always have a dog!

  1. Oh Judy, Charlie is absolutely adorable and she sleeps holding her blanket the same way that Cooper does🥰. Sorry to hear about your cashmere glove….it’s a good thing she’s so darn cute🤣! As I write this, Cooper is cuddled up next to me with his head in my lap and “talking in his sleep🐶😴”. I read somewhere that ALL dogs are therapy dogs and it’s so true. Cooper and I are sending big hugs to you and Charlie xo ❤️🐶

    1. Hi Karen, Cooper sounds like an absolute delight…I sometimes wonder if Charlie will ever be so calm as to rest quietly on my lap! She doesn’t stop moving from morning to night! xox Judy❤️

  2. I’m sure she will Judy! Cooper really started to calm down when he turned two and he’s gotten more and more settled as he’s matured. I never imagined he’d cuddle into us the way he does now but as soon as any of us sits down on the couch, he’s up like a shot and snuggles in…..it’s pure therapy! I guarantee Charlie will do the same. She’s absolutely beautiful….she just melts my heart🥰! xo ❤️Karen

  3. Hello Judy, your Charlie is adorable. Yes, our Benny is the same in terms of playing, when we don’t she barks at us or humps Don’s leg when he is doing someting else. She also has had her toys dear to her: her flat bear and a blankie. She loves to play tag of war and roll with it on the floor, doing salto moves. She is till playful but mostly at 9 pm after her evening walk. She will be 2 years old on Feb. 27. Time flies! I am happy your home is alive again. So is ours. Love, Eva

  4. Hi Eva, It sounds like Benny and Charlie are sisters from another mother! I was, however, hoping that by the time Charlie was 2 she would have settled down a bit…so much for wishful thinking! xox Judy❤️

  5. Benny has settled down a lot, but we call her princess bossy pants. She does things when she feels like it. She has a mind of her own and she loves giving kisses.
