The thing about New Year’s resolutions is that it’s usually wishful thinking for me! As a matter a fact, I have given up making them, instead, I just keep my head buried in the now and like Scarlet, I’ll think about it on another day.
I have a New Year’s ritual of cleaning and organizing, but by week 2 of January, I’m ready for something a bit more exciting. This is when the seed catalogues come out, and garden daydreaming becomes a full-time occupation. I’ve spent quality time on Pinterest this week looking for inspiration for my front flower beds…this is the area of the garden I want to concentrate on this summer.
…Back to New Year’s resolutions…
I saw this list (while on Pinterest!) and it checked all the boxes of ambitious goals for this year. The majority of these are doable (for me) and several were intriguing. The thought of “adventure” is almost too good to be true. Not travelling for the past two years really has been disappointing (although realizing how fortunate I’ve been in the past has been enlightening). I think my husband would be happy for me to find my sense of humor! Too much together time is wearing thin!
The last item on this list, “make a new friend”, had me thinking about something that has been on my mind for years now. I, thankfully, already have a wealth of friends who enrich my life immensely.
What I’m looking for is a Pen Pal, preferably a woman about my age who lives in France. She would have to be able to read and write in English. I did write to an American writer who lives in France asking her if she knew of anyone who would want to correspond with a Canadian woman who shares similar interests. Not surprisingly, I haven’t heard back from her…she probably quickly deleted the email thinking it was JUNK!
I’ve always loved the idea of a handwritten letter and it’s something to look forward to receiving in your mailbox. When I was in elementary school, I had a Pen Pal from Scotland and we exchanged letters until I was in high school. How I wished I had kept up with that relationship. At that time, the school screened these participants…however, that was LONG before cyper scams.
Not sure how to move forward on this, but it’s at the forefront of my mind…maybe this will be my New Year’s Resolution… Any suggestions?

PS: Unfortunately, some of you may have received a rough draft of this blog earlier this week. My New Year’s Resolution should be to take a computer course so that I wouldn’t be making these rookie mistakes!
Still surrounded by magic…
I think this is a wonderful idea! I do hope it works out for you, Judy.
Happy New Year 🥳
Hi Donna, I am committed to following this through…I will keep you posted. xox Judy❤️
What mistakes?
Just a thought, but perhaps Claudine at Bleu Blonde Rouge could help you out, or give you direction. She seems to have a lot of contacts in Paris, and a ton of information.
Thank you Karen, I will give it a try…it’s a good idea and it can’t hurt! xox ❤️
