And just like that…summer is over

And we’re halfway through autumn.  Snow is on the way and Christmas is just around the corner.  Time really does slip by.

I hope your garden season was as productive and pleasant as mine.  With an abundance of rain early on and so many bright, sunny days right into September, the garden looked beautiful.   I don’t think I’ve ever had so many roses blooming right into October.  It was difficult to cut them back in preparation for winter.  Just this past weekend I finally got everything cleaned up and put away for another season!

The eyes gain a new perspective once the garden is pared back to bare bones when the  perennials are cut back and annuals sent to compost.  A plan for something different has already started swirling around for next Spring.  With perfect growing conditions this summer, the perennials in the back courtyard garden (way) over performed!!  The beds were wild, overgrown and had lost their form.  I decided to move many of the perennials to the front garden…I can’t bare to dispose of healthy plants.  I just hope I haven’t created a jungle there.   To simplify the back garden beds I will  concentrate on the formal style I originally wanted.  I’m afraid my enthusiasm got out of control!

I had a wonderful holiday to Paris and London this summer.  It was burning hot but so good to go back again.  I love getting inspired to do something new in both my garden and indoors.  Before I can make any changes in my home, however,  I’ll have to declutter (a lot).  The problem is that I still “find joy” in most of my things.  The good thing is that a tiny, tiny bit of Marie Kondo has slipped through a crack in my personalty.  We’ll see how long it lasts!

Thank you to all of you who have reached out wondering if I’m going to continue with the blog.  I am, but I probably won’t post every week…maybe every second week.  Frankly, I often feel like I don’t have anything new to talk about.

I have a few time sensitive projects to get done before Christmas and while I’m on a roll to organize my home, the posts will be sporadic for the next couple of months.  I hope you have all been well and happy and I look forward to getting back into a regular  routine again in the new year.   xox Judy❤️

  1. Oh my gosh Judy, you have just made my day seeing your post🥰! I have thought of emailing you a few times to see if you were ok when nothing was posted in October buy told myself to wait until next Monday before reaching out in case you were just busy. I’m over the moon 🥳to see your post again. I’m so glad to hear you had great success in your garden as well as a lovely trip to Paris and London and felt inspired. My garden was finally put to bed as well and I’m missing it already, although I’ve already decorated it for Christmas just to lift my spirits. My main project for the winter is to either paint the hallway bannister and if that turns out badly…replace it altogether😂. Please don’t feel pressured to put out posts or feel like you have nothing to say that we would be interested in. Your posts are always so enjoyable and inspiring no matter what the content is🥰. Enjoy sweater weather and cozy days (and of course those Hallmark movie moments 😂) while you settle into your projects. Big hugs and a bizillion thank-yous for your post, Karen xo❤️

    1. Hi Karen, thank you so much for your comment…I’m happy you were able to send it. I’m still getting emails from followers saying they were unable to post a comment. It sounds like you are well into a cozy groove, and getting ready for the holiday season. Looking forward to hearing how the bannister painting goes. Thank you for the encouragement…sometimes I need that to get me motivated. xox Judy❤️

  2. Hi Judy! So happy to hear from you this morning. Like Karen M., I was concerned. The weather really has been good to us, and this lovely Fall weather is going to shorten up our Winter. I am excited to start Christmas decorating, but I too must de-clutter before I bring out the Christmas boxes. So looking forward to seeing pics of your summer gardens, and what you are planning for this coming Christmas Season’s decor!

    1. Hi Karen, I’m happy to hear from you too…I’ve missed our online talks! I hope your declutter is successful. So far I’ve made a few trips to Goodwill but there is so much more to go. I’m sure you are having trouble parting with your treasures. Happy decluttering! xox Judy❤️

  3. It’s so good to hear from you again! I too was worried that these wonderful posts might have come to an end. I’m glad you’re back!

  4. Hi Joyce, Thank you for always supporting the blog…now the pressure is on to post some interesting content! You are probably in holiday decorating mode…have fun. I’m sure the snow today will have many of us digging through our Christmas ornament boxes. xox Judy❤️
