A New Year…

Recently, I revisited a speech given by Ruth Bader Ginsburg on optimism. Even in troubled times, she was confident that when the pendulum swung as far as it could go in one direction, eventually it would swing back in the opposite direction. RBG was a champion of gender equality. Would she be as optimistic today? Unfortunately, she is no longer with us. I have a feeling things would have turned out differently if she was…

It’s a new year, and what will it bring? With so much uncertainty in the world, there is no guarantee it will be smooth sailing—anything but is my guess. Finding the delicate balance between good and evil requires relying on wise, caring, compassionate people to manage.  Will they be strong enough to outweigh the chaos that reigns?

I’ve chosen optimism as my word of the year.  Not only do I want to live a long life, I want it to be a happy, healthy life.  And that’s up to me.  I can do whatever I can to improve my little world by looking for the positive and avoiding the negative.  Have you chosen a word that represents your outlook on the new year?

As the days get longer and the sun gets higher in the sky, there is much to look forward to. Soon we’ll be back outdoors and doesn’t that make everything so much better?

Wishing you all a Happy New Year…one that fulfils all your dreams and aspirations. Cheers to good health and an abundance of happiness,  xox Judy❤️

  2. What a thoughtful message with which to start a New Year! Sending you many wishes for health, laughter and peace in 2025! (Seems impossible to be saying 2025!) Cathy

    1. Thank you Cathy, I agree that it’s hard to believe it’s almost 2025…time really does travel fast! Wishing you a wonderful year ahead too. xox Judy❤️

  3. I do like the word Grateful. Counting my blessings always brings me back to the “now,” and all things good and positive. No doubt that positivity attracts the positive, and that it is contagious.
Health, “Optimism,” and Peace to you in 2025 Judy!
PS. Hope you were watching New Year’s Eve on the Champs Elysees just now!

    1. Happy New Year Karen, “grateful” is a perfect word…positive and contagious! Wishing you all the best, positive things too. Yes, I’ve been watching the New Year’s Eve celebrations from all over the world today. The fireworks have been fabulous. London is just about to turn over to the New Year. xox Judy❤️

  4. I think optimism is a perfect word Judy! In such turbulent and uncertain times as we’re experiencing all over the world right now, I find myself feeling incredibly frustrated (and not very optimistic) at the ways people, especially in the last few years, have been so polarized and aggressive towards each other. I find myself making an extra special effort to smile and say hello to people I don’t know in the hopes that it will make a difference in somebody’s day and maybe their attitude…which I swear I’ve witnessed! I always hope that they will in turn pass it forward. I’m going to make optimism as well as altruism and appreciation my words of the New Year since I’m definitely appreciative for how fortunate I am and will try to do more to spread more positivity to others. I wish you and your family much health and happiness for 2025! Hugs, Karen xo❤️

    1. Happy New Year Karen, I’m a firm believer that good deeds happen from the bottom up too! Showing others kindness is never overrated and I have no doubt that your smile makes the receiver feel the warmth in your heart. I’m not sure I’ll always be optimist this year but I aim to try. Staying away from cable news will help, however, I also don’t want to bury my head in the sand. I still want to be informed, however, how I handle that information will be on me. Pass along a Happy New Year to those special men in your life! xox Judy❤️
