Cheers…

I was so looking forward to 2023, 23 being my lucky number, and with the end of Covid (so I thought) in sight, it was destined to be a great year…right?  What could go wrong?

My personal life ticked along as planned.  I realised the vision (the beginnings, at least) I had longed for in my back garden, and all the rest moved along reasonably uneventfully.  But outside of my little world…not so much.

Climate has shown its mighty force with record-breaking temperatures and, where I live, the devastating forest fires. Poor air quality due to smoke kept us indoors more often than wanted, and now, with no snow (or any precipitation), what can we expect in the New Year?

And what is happening worldwide, the hardships and sorrow so many are feeling, is too much to bear…

I’m not one to make New Year’s resolutions…I’m not that disciplined, and I don’t want to be hard on myself! But I plan to “live in the moment“, to truly be grateful for my good fortune, to “be present“.  Despite all the negative forces out there, we can still smell the roses…see the beauty around us.

Cheers, everyone, to 2024!  Let’s make it a good one…

xox Judy❤️

    1. Happy New Year Jo and Scott…I definitely remember you both and have seen some of your adventures on Instagram. Wishing you many opportunities to make lasting memories in the New Year, xox Judy❤️

  2. Happy New Year Judy! Wishing you hours and hours of being present and in the moment in your lovely yard and home in the coming year. I have never been much of a person to make New Year’s resolutions, but I hope to be able to stick with the change that I made over the last few months, of staying off the News. I think I am less miserable for it – lol. I too look forward to reading your blog in 2024. Thank you for being here!

    1. Happy New Year Karen, you are so wise to shelter yourselves for all the bad news on the airwaves. I haven’t been able to tear myself away from it…it’s like an addiction almost! I look forward to our little chats in the New Year. xox Judy❤️ PS I was checking our the jewelry on The Paris Market website this morning and thought of you!

      1. Sorry, just to clarify – I really need to get back to work “on my jewelry.” lol.

  3. Happy New Year Judy! I’ve also never been one to make New Year’s resolutions but in the last few years, especially in this last year, with all that is going on in the world, I keep reminding myself just how fortunate I am and to be grateful for things that are easy to take for granted. My home and garden have also become my sanctuary in a way that I never would have imagined years ago. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home and garden with us and inspiring us with your beautiful blog. It’s the perfect escape from a not-so-perfect world! Hugs, Karen xo❤️

    1. Happy New Year Karen, I think that pandemic finally woke me up to all the things I took for granted in the past. Being isolated from friends and family was almost unbearable at times and I certainly want to make those occasions meaningful now and in the future. One positive thing to come out of all the nightmares of past three years was the appreciation many on us have gained from our homes and it has encouraged us to nurture our private sanctuaries for all the people most dear to us. Looking forward to more chatting in the New Year. xox Judy❤️
