Although I will not be writing a blog post this week, I wanted to send these photos (which really don’t do the flowers justice) of an outstanding show of Dahlias.
Earlier this week, I went to the St. Albert Botanic Park with a friend. This was my first visit, but it will not be the last. Volunteers have started cutting back perennials, and the roses are almost finished blooming for the season, but what a treat to see so many varieties of Dahlias still in bloom. I highly recommend a visit to this hidden treasure so close to home.
Soon the tubers will be lifted and stored for the winter. The massive undertaking…digging up, cleaning and drying, dividing, labelling and storing is truly a labour of love.
The photos below show just a smidgen of what there is to see!
I’ve received my gigantic box of bulbs and will plant them while the sun shines, and we enjoy summer-like temperatures.
Hope you are all revelling in these first few days of fall.

Gorgeous photos Judy! I love the St. Albert Botanic Park and, because of the different blooming times of all the varieties of plants there, it’s different every time you visit. Good luck with your bulbs and enjoy these beautiful fall days! Hugs, Karen xo❤️
Hi Karen, This was a new find for me and I look forward to visiting many times in the future. They were setting up the gift shop for Christmas when I was there last week so I’m definitely going back to check that out. Enjoy this exceptional weather. xox Judy❤️
