Back to normal…

Even though I didn’t have my usual full on Christmas set up, the house seems bare now that what was out has been put away for another year.  It has, however, inspired me to move accessories around to create new vignettes for this “gap” season between indoors and outdoors…winter.

My plan in November was to have a simple, elegant Christmas decor.  The colour scheme was going to be gold and creamy white with fresh greenery.  Central to that plan was a full length velvet tablecloth for the dining table.  That idea had to be scraped when the fabric I ordered for the tablecloth was stuck somewhere during the mail strike.  Ironically the fabric showed up between Christmas and New Years!

I haven’t used my sewing machine for years but had it serviced last fall with the idea I’d make some decor pieces.  I’ve been looking for specific colours to accent the living room and dining room for some time with no luck so I’ve been on the hunt locally for fabric.  Unfortunately my search has been unsuccessful and I’ve had to resort to online sites.  This is a bit risky as colours often appear different on the computer screen.

The fabric I ordered for the tablecloth worked out beautifully even though it’s not the colour I thought it would be!  Although the colour is neutral, the fabric with its weight has cozied up the dining room.  Instead of leaving the tabletop clean, I added books, candleholders and other bits and pieces.

How are you spending your time this month?  xox Judy❤️

P.S.  I am so impressed with the way the hydrangeas I picked last fall are holding up.  At the time, I put them in a container with gylcerine and water.  The colour has changed to a muted caramel and the flowers are soft…not brittle like hydrangea usually is once it’s dried.
