A New Year…

Recently, I revisited a speech given by Ruth Bader Ginsburg on optimism. Even in troubled times, she was confident that when the pendulum swung as far as it could go in one direction, eventually it would swing back in the opposite direction. It’s a new year, and what will it bring? With so much uncertainty in the world, there is no guarantee it will be smooth sailing—anything but is my guess. Finding the delicate balance between good and evil requires relying on wise, caring, compassionate people to manage.  Will they be strong enough to outweigh the chaos that reigns?

I’ve chosen optimism as my word of the year.  Not only do I want to live a long life, I want it to be a happy, healthy life.  And that’s up to me.  I can do whatever I can to improve my little world by looking for the positive and avoiding the negative.  Have you chosen a word that represents your outlook on the new year?

 

As the days get longer and the sun gets higher in the sky, there is much to look forward to. Soon we’ll be back outdoors and doesn’t that make everything so much better?
