Red for Christmas…

I’m sure I’ve never used red as a theme for my Christmas decor before. But you never know when or what may strike your fancy and inspire you to take a new direction.

That “something” is this tablecloth I found at the boutique run by a French blogger, Sharon Santoni. The site is “My French Country Home.”

Red is not one of my colours, but when I saw the pattern on this tablecloth, I was so captivated that I added it to cart without a second thought.  I hadn’t even considered it for my holiday decorating, instead thinking it would look great for outdoor entertaining.  When it arrived I quickly changed my mind.  It’s made of soft linen with a fabulous drape.  I’m not sure what the flowers are, but the pinky-red petals on some branches look like poinsettia.

I’ve changed all the accents in the dining room to complement the tablescape, mostly with red ribbons since I don’t have much else in red. With a few minor tweaks, the dining room has a new look.

The roses are from last week’s centrepiece but are still looking beautiful.  I will get red tulips or red roses for the Christmas dinner table, whatever is available.

Our family dinner on Christmas day is relaxed, casual, and lively…I think the red will add a fun vibe.

Today, I heard that Merriam-Webster named the word of the year “polarization.” This is not surprising, considering our upside-down world.

My holiday wish for you is to escape all the noise around us, find time for some well-deserved self-care, reflect on the good times and fond memories you’ve made this year and share love and laughter with those you hold dear.

Merry Christmas,

xox Judy❤️
