Many complain about the weather, especially the deep freeze of winter. I, too, am guilty of this pointless pastime, but for me, it’s the heat of summer I grumble about.
Along with these extremes in temperatures comes the bonus of four distinct seasons. Here in Northern Canada, one week is rarely the same as the last…keeping gardeners on their toes! We are lucky to have snow at Christmas (much easier for Santa to land his sleigh on a snow-covered roof!) and darker evenings at Halloween (helping to create a ghoulish atmosphere for trick-or-treaters!).
I’m always taking photographs of my garden. The automatic date stamp the phone provides is a quick reference for what works, what’s coming and disappointments that are bound to happen. But only a drone photo will give us a bird’s eye view.
These are the drone winter photos of my garden taken on February 3. Unfortunately, much of the snow has melted over the past couple of weeks. Still, there is enough snow to offer a blank canvas accentuating the negative spaces not as noticeable at other times of the year (the fall photo above was taken mid-October).
Wouldn’t you know it, a few days after the drone photos were taken, we had a light dusting of snow overnight and beautiful hoar frost the next morning!
And Spring is just around the corner…
