The Winter Garden…at Christmas

Screen Shot 2018-11-29 at 6.30.58 PMThis garden is definitely a Winter Wonderland.    I can only imagine how many miles of lights that have been used in this garden.

The hedges in my front garden are topped with (many) mini lights casting a soft, warm glow.  I’m not sure what I will do when these old-fashioned clear mini lights are no longer available!

Screen Shot 2018-11-30 at 8.33.47 AMWhat would Thomas Edison think if he could see how his invention of the electric Christmas lights has evolved since the inception in 1880?  Driving through the suburbs at this time of year I’ve noticed that the light displays are getting more elaborate every year.  It seems now that we’ve acquired everything to decorate the interior of our homes we are moving the celebration outdoors.   Lighting the winter sky over the darkest nights for those few precious weeks is magical.

I have often said that my garden is more beautiful in winter.   The blanket of snow provides a quiet elegance that is not possible at any other time of the year.

I switched up my front garden outdoor decor this year with touches of red.

The back garden on a snowy night…for my pleasure only…the ‘night owl’ birds …and squirrels…
