One Year…

This week’s post marks the one year anniversary for the Après CC on Whyte blog.   The premise of the blog originally centred around beauty’.  I realize that I have (on multiple occasions)  strayed from that topic but, hopefully, there was a positive (or beautiful)  message in there somewhere.

My inspiration was…

Screen Shot 2018-07-24 at 6.44.49 PMThere have been weeks when writing a new post has been a struggle.  I’m not a writer, and to all those out there who are, I apologize for my slang, questionable grammar and probable spelling errors.  I will, however, strive to find something to talk about as long as I have an audience who follows along.  I have appreciated all the comments, and if you have any suggestions or ideas for new posts I’m always open to hearing them.  You have given me the courage to continue, and for that, I will be forever grateful.

It’s been interesting to see what posts have sparked the most traffic.  The top 5 are:

  • Cafe Society…
  • French Pharmacy…
  • Revolution...
  • Maison des Fleurs…
  • What’s on your playlist…

With no clear connection in these topics so I’m uncertain what direction to go in next.  Do I narrow my scope or do I bounce around as I have in the past?  Any suggestions?

At times it has been difficult for me to be so transparent…to allow myself to step outside my comfort zone.  It’s hard to straddle that line between being too controversial and being too generic.  And of course, some weeks the topics come quickly, and on other weeks nothing comes to mind until the last minute.

If you are willing to keep ‘following’, I am willing to keep writing.

xxx Judy

**I will be taking a few weeks off the writing schedule and hopefully will come back with some new ideas to share.  Enjoy the rest of summer.

***A very special “thank you” to my editor for talking me into writing this blog and talking me through every post… motivating me to keep going…

  1. Well done Judy! I love the fact that you’re not just always talking about one topic. You’ve enlightened me on many subject areas that I’ve wondered about. I intent to continue following. One topic I’d like to know more about is, what music is played in a French café or on the streets? What is your favourite? Our family has so much rock ‘n roll that I’d like something more soothing when sitting out in my yard reading a book or flipping through a design magazine. Just a thought. Enjoy your break!

    1. Hi Joyce, Thank you for following along and for your positive reinforcement! You will hear French and English “pop” music on the streets and in the cafes in France too. Also, you will recognize the music to American songs but sung in French. The cafes that cater to tourists will play the classic accordion music that everyone loves to hear. Street performers are often playing the accordion as well. I like to listen to Carla Bruni and also the soundtracks to either French movies or movies like “Something’s Gotta Give” or “Midnight in Paris”. It’s a great way to daydream while enjoying your garden!!

  2. Congratulations on your One Year Anniversary Judy!! I have so enjoyed reading your posts….each week it’s like sitting down with you over a glass of wine! You have a great way of communicating and I look forward to another year of weekly posts!

    1. Thank you, Catherine…it’s just about time for another sit down with a glass of wine! Thank you for the encouragement and your comments over this past year.

  3. Please do not stop doing your Blog, I look forward to each and every one of them. There is” beauty” in every word, because they come from the heart. Always reminding us to always look for thing that make us happy, a scent, a beautiful flower, a smile, places to visit, a good book but most of all knowing there is someone out there that puts into words what our hearts yearn for and quenches it with knowledge that has us looking beyond and making each and every day better and more “beautiful”
    Thank you

    1. Thank you, Monique, for your “beautiful” comment. It’s encouraging to know that there are “like” minded people out there to talk to every week! Talk soon…

  4. Congrats on your one year anniversary, I am looking forward to another 52 posts!
What I admire most is your willingness to be vulnerable and your ability to create both an informational and personal post each week. You have a ‘beautiful’ way of integrating your life into your readers’ everyday ongoings.
Thank you for sharing a snippet of your life and interests with your readers.

  5. Thank you, Jillian…it helps to know that there are people out there that care and are willing to take the time out of their day to read along. The encouragement means more than you know.
