Peace…

Recently a friend asked if I knew why I was so into Christmas this year.  Without thinking I started rattling off something like, “the sadness of closing the store had dissipated and was replaced by the desire to create a warm and welcome environment for family and friends”.  But in the end, I’ve come to believe that time really does heal.  As I said in an earlier post, this is the third Christmas since the store closed.  I have come to appreciate the luxury of the time I now have to make the most of the holiday season.

I’ll admit that I am a cable news fanatic…a witness to the madness in politics, the devastation of Nature’s wrath…the winds, the fires, the floods, but mostly the disparity between the “haves” and “have-nots”.  Thankfully at this time of the year we make an effort to put that aside for just a bit, choosing instead to meet up with the people who are special in our lives.   If time permits, leisure time spent watching the annual Hallmark Christmas movies and our favourite Christmas classics is a reminder of what’s good and right in the world.

Once the long hours of work, decorating, shopping, and food prep are done, I hope that you have some time for yourself to reflect on what the season means to you.  I hope you, too, find the magic and beauty of Christmas.

  1. Merry Christmas to you, Judy. You have been a part of my Christmas for many years–my tree and my kids’ trees have many lovely ornaments from CC. I’m so glad you are still in my life and that you are still sharing beauty with us. Peace and good times to you and your kin.

  2. Hi Eva, I, too, am happy that you are in my life! Wishing you have a wonderful time with the family. Merry Christmas to Emma too. Hopefully we can have coffee in January and catch up. xox
